THANK YOU to ‘My Local – Frimley’

Contacts and networking play a key part in building relationships, which work for both charities and businesses alike. The day before Good Friday a supporter of the charity contacted us with a great challenge!

Victoria Sizmur works for the new My Local store in Frimley and they had an overstock of fresh fruit, which they did not want to see go to waste. As Victoria has volunteered and fundraised with LMF on many occasions she knew we relished a challenge and also had ties with many local charities and organisations in the area.

Our challenge was to take delivery of several crates of fresh apples and pears and either give them away or raise funds with them. Thinking caps on and brains into gear we set about making a few calls to see  who would welcome free fruit.

Donations were gratefully accepted by Whitebourne Care home, the Camberley All Night Café for the homeless and several elderly people living alone in Frimley and Bagshot. Thanks must also go to Conrad from the Half Moon in Windlesham and Ollie from the Cedar Tree in Bagshot who both took fruit and donated to the charity.

This is another great demonstration of the community working together for the good of others. We can’t thank ‘My Local  Frimley’ enough for their generous donation and for caring enough to give fruit away rather than throwing it away.
