Sainsbury’s Watchmoor Park – A year of Fundraising comes to a close.
News
Sainsbury’s, Watchmoor Park 1st Birthday!
Well it has been one year since Watchmoor Sainsbury’s chose to support the Lisa May Foundation and what a great year it has been! Watchmoor staff and customers have welcomed us with open arms and allowed us to have so much fun whilst fundraising!
At our launch party we made a real splash by putting the staff in stocks for a good old soaking! We coaxed the store manager Leigh Brown to take his turn and allowed staff the chance to ensure he was wet through!
We have had the Brownies, Sea Cadets and the cast of Cinderella helping us to bucket collect in store…
HR Manager Jo Nation got stuck in from day one and has face painted at most of our events. Jo even persuaded a few young men to have hearts painted on them for Valentine’s Day, all in the name of charity and love of course!
Harry Rouse from the main kiosk became our resident mascot as he dressed up for all of our themed events. He hired many costumes to complement our themed events; a school boy, Christmas Tree, Leprechaun and the King of Hearts to name but a few. He has been instrumental in helping us to raise awareness and money. Without his help our tombola’s would never have been as full or successful.
So how do you end a fantastic year that has given us so much more than money?
Well a birthday party is a start, so we created one in store.
We bought along cakes thanks to Jess at La-Di-Da Cupcakes and we invited the local Indian, New Diwan-ee-Khas to provide light bites for lunch. We played some familiar games to entertain the customers a tombola and raffle of course.
We made a heartfelt personal thanks to all the staff and customers for raising £5,500 this year, with a little more still to come from the collection tins on the tills.
So this year has been busy, fun and very rewarding all round. None of that would be possible without the continued support from Sainsbury’s and the generosity of the customers as we met throughout the year.
Congratulations to everyone who helped us to help others. Your donations are gratefully accepted and we hope you know that with us your donations do go five times further as we support five charities under one umbrella.
